Frequently asked questions

What electrical connection does the Atosa YRU0140A-161 need?

It needs a standard 115V, 60 Hz, single-phase outlet that accepts its NEMA 5-15 plug. It draws 5.3 A and is rated at 430 W.

What water and drain connections are required?

You need a water supply and a drain. The water inlet is a 3/8" slip-style connector that takes 3/8" OD tubing. The water outlet is a 3/4" hose barb that takes 3/4" rubber hose with a clamp, and the bin drain runs through the same outlet. An inlet hose and a drain hose come with the unit.

How much ice does it make and hold?

It makes up to 140 lb of half-dice cube ice per 24 hours and holds up to 88 lb in the built-in bin. Under ENERGY STAR standard test conditions it is rated at 120 lb per day. Output will be lower in hot rooms or with warm incoming water.

Will it fit through a standard doorway and under my counter?

Yes, it fits through doorways easily. At 28-3/4" deep and 24-1/4" wide it is well under a 36" doorway, and at 38-1/2" tall it clears an 80" door opening. For a built-in installation, measure the opening against the full 38-1/2" height, which includes the 6" legs. Leave room around the unit for airflow to the air-cooled condenser.

What certifications does it have?

It is NSF listed, ETL listed and ENERGY STAR certified. NSF listing means it meets sanitation standards that health inspectors look for. ETL listing means it meets North American electrical safety standards. ENERGY STAR certification means it meets federal efficiency limits for commercial ice machines, and many utility rebates require it.

What warranty comes with it?

Atosa covers parts and labor for 2 years, and the compressor for another 3 years, for 5 years in total. The 2-year coverage runs from installation or 27 months from Atosa's shipment date, whichever comes first. Labor is covered at standard straight-time rates plus reasonable travel time. The extra compressor coverage applies only to the sealed compressor parts. Maintenance and cleaning are not covered. Claims must be made directly to Atosa with the model number, serial number, proof of purchase and installation date.

How often does the water filter need changing?

Atosa recommends replacing the 3M filter cartridge every 6 months. Every Atosa ice machine should run with the included 3M filter system and a cartridge installed. Clean the condenser and its removable air filter regularly so the unit gets enough fresh air.

How does it compare with the Atosa YRU0280A-161 and YR140-AP-161?

The YRU0280A-161 has the same 24-1/4" x 28-3/4" x 38-1/2" cabinet and the same 88 lb bin, but makes up to 280 lb per day. It draws 8.6 A and 800 W, and uses 7.49 kWh per 100 lb of ice. The YR140-AP-161 is the earlier model in this size, and the YRU0140A-161 replaces it.

Does it ship free, and how is it delivered?

Yes, this model ships free. It ships on a pallet by freight truck. A lift gate fee applies to large items like this one if you don't have a loading dock and is calculated at checkout.
